PLANNING WELL UNDERWAY FOR NEW ASTRONOMY CENTRE

While Tamworth’s Astronomy Club is preparing to host 200 people at tonight’s stargazing world record attempt, members say planning is well-underway for a new astronomy and science centre.
Last month the state government announced $1.8-million to build a new facility at the Victoria Park site, which would include a museum, observatory and education centre.
“The project now is being finalised to actually start commencing the tender process very, very, shortly.”
It’s hoped the new centre will benefit local school students, as well as boost tourism.
