HATS ON FOR FIRE AND RESCUE OPEN DAY

There was a sea of tiny red hats at Kariong’s Fire and Rescue Open Day as dozens of local families turned out for a taste of what life is like as a professional firefighter.

For the young ones, it was all smiles up front in the driver’s seat…

…and later, they were awe-struck with the kitchen fire simulator.

In lieu of fighting real flames, the budding firies took turns watering the garden.
