TAMWORTH REGIONAL HERITAGE AWARDS
The Tamworth Regional Heritage Festival wrapped up today, culminating at the Heritage Awards, this year hosted at Goonoo Goonoo Station.
A number of historical sites around the region were acknowledged for their efforts in keeping heritage alive.
While a new prize – the Warren Newman Memorial Award – was awarded to Len Waters for his passion for Aboriginal culture, language and traditions.
Another surprise addition to the awards list saw Goonoo Goonoo Station recognised for its Significant Contribution to National Heritage.
“The Tamworth Heritage Working Group chose to create this award as a special acknowledgment a gesture which reflects how important we see what the Haggarty family and their team have created,” Clare James, Heritage Officer.
