There’s been yet another incident at Orica’s Kooragang Island plant, with up to five kilograms of nitric acid leaking from the facility last night.
Orica says the leak was identified just after seven o’clock, during a routine inspection.
It comes after the startup process at the ammonia plant was suspended due to a mechanical fault.
The local community is being assured there’s no risk to their health, or the environment.
Meanwhile, the EPA is also investigating a minor emission of nepthalene from the Mayfield Koppers plant.
