KEMPSEY COUNCIL HITS BACK AT CRITICS OVER NEW $6 MILLION CINEMA COMPLEX

The Mayor of Kempsey has defended council’s decision to use $2-million in ratepayers money to help fund the new $6-million dollar Kempsey cinema complex.
A number of residents have expressed concern that money could be better spent.
“Through the highway bypass strategy this is what was highlighted and has been for the last three years. It covers every demographic, young people, right through to the elderly use these sort of spaces to socialise” – Kempsey Mayor Liz Campbell.
The federal government and investment company Gowings will fund the project’s remaining cost.
