COUNCIL MOVES TO REDUCE FEES FOR OUTDOOR PERSONAL TRAINERS

A new draft policy will go on public display after the Easter break to see personal trainers using local parks for commercial gain charged separately from local events.

Tamworth Regional Council says trainers currently fall under the small event hire fee – but that charge could soon fall.

“That is at $18/hour but under this new fitness trainers one they’ll have their own specific, where we will allocate them a certain area, guarantee their space and at a much reduced rate,” Paul Kelly, Tamworth Regional Council.

Friendly exercise groups will be exempt, with only those experiencing financial gain to see the new $5 per hour tax imposed.

It will go towards offsetting costs to manage and maintain the areas.
