MID NORTH COAST FLOOD WATCH FOLLOW UP

With this morning’s cancellation of flood warnings across the Mid North Coast, the SES has received almost 300 requests for assistance across a four day period.

Of those, just three were flood rescues.

SES Mid North Coast controller, Tony Day, says this week’s operation by SES volunteers was a significant improvement on the region’s last weather event.

“We conducted a lot of social media to warn the community about the dangers of entering flood waters and fortunately for us we only had 3 flood rescues over this period which is quite good, so we’re thinking that the mesage is getting through.”

He says with all the catchements from Karuah through to Kempsey under flood watch it was a extensive operation for the SES and emergency services.
