COUNCIL CONCERNED THERE’S A LACK OF USE OF NEW COACH TRIAL
Liverpool Plains Shire Council says it’s concerned not enough people are making use of the recently launched Trainlink coach trial.
Services were launched from Tamworth to Newcastle, Dubbo and Port Macquarie earlier this month as part of a six month trial – centred around a ‘use it or lose it’ policy.
Council is encouraging residents to use the service in the hopes it will expand from two days per week.
“They can avoid the traffic on the New England highway, not everybody wants to drive to Newcastle because of they heavy traffic. So this is a good opportunity to get around that,” Acting Mayor Doug Hawkins.
Councillor Hawkins says it’s half the price of the Explorer, and bookings for the coach service can be made at Quirindi and Werris Creek newsagencies.
