UNION MEMBERS LOCKED OUT OF ASHTON COAL MINE

Industrial tension has reached boiling point in the upper Hunter this morning, with mining company Yancoal locking union workers out of the Ashton Underground Coal Mine near Camberwell.
The situation was diffused by lunch time, as the CMFEU agreed to cancel all planned industrial action.
Union officials are fighting for several conditions to be retained within worker’s enterprise agreements.
Negotiations will continue on Monday.
