Andrew Fraser has renewed calls for a Regional Athletics Centre to be built in Coffs Harbour.
Coffs Coast Little Athletics initially proposed the sporting facility on York Street Oval in 20-16.
The Member for Coffs Harbour says he wants to see council apply for a State Government grant, to get construction underway.
“I’m asking council to endorse this proposal, put in the application and the state government will pay $2.7 to $3 million for its construction.”
The proposed synthetic track would be the only professional training facility between Newcastle and Brisbane.
“This is a professional training facility that would give these young people on the whole of the north coast and north west an opportunity to compete on surfaces that they would hope to go on and compete in the Olympic Games and commonwealth games.”
