Two brothers have been rescued from dense bushland in the Barrington Tops, north west of Dungog.
The men activated an emergency beacon last night after becoming trapped by rising floodwater while canyoning.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter located them along the Williams River this morning, winching them to safety.
Authorities say, without the beacon, it could have been a different story.
The men weren’t injured.
