MOUNT KAPUTAR BUSHFIRE EXPECTED TO BE FULLY EXTINGUISHED OVER THE WEEKEND

The Mount Kaputar bushfire north-east of Narrabri has been downgraded from a major bushfire.
The RFS has handed the operation back to National Parks and Wildlife with activity levels very low, thanks to recent rain.
Crews are optimistic the fire will be fully out over the weekend, with more rain predicted to fall.
It comes as disaster assistance has been announced for residents affected by recent bushfires in Gwydir, Tamworth and Uralla local government areas.
