GILLESPIE TO PUT HIS HAND UP FOR THE TOP JOB
Returning now to Federal politics and member for Lyne, Dr David Gillespie, has put his hand up for the Nationals top job after member for New England, Barnaby Joyce, announced he would resign as leader
Elected in 2013, he says his focus will always be to fight for the best for regional Australia.
“I have a track record of ministerial experience, local delivery, a safe pair of hands and I put my answer to questions about what I would do if there was a vacancy and the answer is I would put my hand up.”
However Dr Gillespie could face his own difficulties, with the ALP pushing a high court case pending over his eligibility to be elected.
