Hunter beachgoers are being targeted in a beach theft scam.
Police say there’s been several reports of thieves stealing mobile phones, then demanding victims pay around $300 to return them.
It’s understood people have been targeted at Bar Beach, Newcastle Beach and Blacksmiths.
Officers are urging beachgoers not negotiate with the thieves, and report incidents as soon as possible.
