HUNTER HURRICANES RETURN TO NEWCASTLE HARBOUR

The Australian Waterpolo League returns to Newcastle Harbour on Saturday, with the competition leading men’s Hunter Hurricanes hosting Fremantle.
Well-travelled American goalkeeper Alek Ruzic says it’ll be a new experience.
“You can see the wake’s coming in, you have to worry about how the ball’s going to bounce off the water and everything.”
“I played a couple of games over in Europe in pools similar to this, it was cemented off, not really an open harbour but I’m excited.”
Currently recovering from shoulder injury, Julia Barton has taken on the role of assistant coach with the women’s side.
“But I’ve still tried to stay as involved as I can and be with the girls all the time because hopefully I’ll be back next season, but it’s tricky, you want to be in the pool all the time.”
