A piece of Mayfield history is set to be razed.
The Newcastle-Maitland Catholic Diocese has submitted a DA to Newcastle City Council to demolish Saint Columban’s Church.
It’s been closed for more than a year due to structural and safety concerns.
Last year, the church and primary school celebrated its 100th birthday.
It’s not known what will be built in its place.
