4.2 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE HITS THE MID NORTH COAST
For a fifth day now, a series of earthquakes have rattled the Mid North Coast, with tremors unsettling residents from Dorrigo to Coffs Harbour and down to Wauchope.
The largest of six recorded today, was a magnitude 4.2 quake which struck off the coast of Urunga around 1.30 this afternoon – and could be felt up to 76 kilometres away.
A 3.3 magnitude quake hit Dorrigo at 6 this morning.
A Geoscience Australia siesmologist last night told NBN news while residents should expect more quakes, they should not be alarmed.
“It’s just one of these things, the forces in the earths crust build up over time and every now and then we get a fault which cracks.”
There have been no reports of injury or damage, but social media was saturated by reports of people feeling buildings move.
