NO NIGHT TWENTY20 CRICKET GAMES IN THE HASTINGS
It was meant to be the home of night time Twenty-Twenty cricket, but Port Macquarie’s Wayne Richards Park has failed to meet the required specifications for floodlighting.
Cricket Australia Community Facility Guidelines state that in order for class three games to take place the lighting needs have 300 square inches of illumination.
The current maximum illumination at the sporting facility is 200.
Council says it will continue to work with the Hastings River District Cricket Association on grant funding to increase the level of lighting.
In the meantime the revamped Twenty-Twenty tournament will be played during the day.
