IS A RATE RISE ON THE HORIZON?
Liverpool Plains Shire Council has notified IPART of its intention to increase rates next financial year.
Mayor Andrew Hope says the rise would help with the council’s large infrastructure backlog.
“We have a lot of complaints about our rural road networks. It’s probably one of the most common things we deal with in Council with the gravel roads not being up to scratch and the fact of the matter is there’s just not enough money to do it,” Liverpool Plains Shire Mayor, Andrew Hope.
Council has until February 12 to formally apply to IPART, with community consultations to be held next month.
