Record rainfall has drenched the mid north coast, especially Port Macquarie.
Substantial rain fell during the day yesterday, and at around 10pm thunderstorms returned, with even heavier falls.
A severe thunderstorm warning for heavy rainfall was issued just after 1 this morning for the Mid North Coast, although the heavens had already opened.
By the time the storms had run out of puff, 202mm of rain was captured at Port Macquarie Airport, a new 24 hour record.
There was also 25,000 lightning strikes in a 50-kilometre radius of Port Macquarie.
We’ll have more on the weather later in the bulletin.
