A petition, calling for the installation of street lights on a busy Wallsend road, is gaining momentum.
It comes after a young woman was killed on Friday night, when she was struck by a car on Minmi Road, while walking with friends.
The petition for the added safety measures has already attracted more than 2,300 signatures and will be handed to Newcastle Council.
