A huge boost for the region, as Lake Macquarie gets set to host Australia’s richest Stand Up Paddleboard contest.
Redhead Beach will come alive in January, with $23,000 up for grabs at the new event.
“Showcases our beaches internationally and nationally and also brings in some of the best competitors so we’ll see some of our young SUP surfers see some of these other surfers going around and that will excite them and hopefully promote the sport even more,” contest director Warren Smith says.
It’s part of the Lake Mac Festival of Surfing, which will launch Surfest 20-18.
