IMAGE RELEASED FOLLOWING COFFS HARBOUR CHILD APPROACH

A computer-generated image has been released of a man as part of police investigations into a child approach on the Mid North Coast.

The man has been described as being of Caucasian appearance with a tanned complexion, aged between 20 and 30, fit build, short brown hair with a beard and had a high-pitched and scratchy voice.

He was wearing a black cap, sunglasses with yellow/orange reflective lenses, red singlet shirt, black shorts and black shoes with an orange sole.

Police say that the man repeatedly tried to initiate contact with 12-year-old girl who was walking her dog on Polwarth Drive in Coffs Harbour, shortly before 8pm on Wednesday.

The girl managed to get away, and police would now like to speak with the man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
