ARMIDALE AIR QUALITY TALK CONTINUES
Armidale Regional Council says its working towards a solution to help improve Armidale’s air quality, particularly through winter.
But Mayor Simon Murray says its challenging to determine where the air quality issues arise, and what parts of the extended council are suffering.
“We can’t very well tell everyone to remove wood heaters when it’s an Armidale issue, not a Guyra issue, not a Tingha issue. It’s really just for here, so we’ve got to come up with some sort of strategy,” Armidale Regional Council Mayor, Simon Murray.
Community feedback is being sought, as council continues to investigate different options.
“Do a lot of monitoring of air quality so we can say, okay under these weather conditions, please make sure you’re burning your fires really well and not choking them down, because that apparently is where a lot of the smoke comes from,” Armidale Regional Council Mayor, Simon Murray.
