A BUSHFIRE CONTINUES TO BURN NORTH OF PORT MACQUARIE
Firefighters and waterbombing aircraft are still working to contain a bushfire north of Port Macquarie.
The blaze has been burning at Limeburners Creek for several days, and is being fanned by strong north easterly winds towards Maria River.
“So yeah we expect the same this evening around 8 or 9 o’clock the winds will drop, um because this is a coastal heath fire it is wind driven so once the wind drops we will get some relief and we’ll be able to strength our containment lines around the fire”
Nearby residents are being advised to follow their bushfire survival plans.
It’s not yet known what caused the fire, which has already burnt more than 3500 hectares of land.
