CONSTRUCTION UNDERWAY ON MEDICAL EDUCATION CENTRE

Construction on a new $20 million medical education centre in Port Macquarie is officially underway, after a ‘ground breaking’ ceremony this morning.
The Joint Health Education Facility will be the first of its kind in regional Australia, thanks to a partnership between the University of New South Wales, Newcastle University and North Coast TAFE.
Medical students will be able to compete their full six year degree in the town, while allied health, dental and pathology courses will also be on offer.
Construction should be completed by the end of 2014.
