MOTORISTS URGED TO TAKE NOTICE OF SPEED CHANGES

Tamworth motorists are being urged to slow down near Darling and Marius Streets over the next fortnight, as a new speed limit is implemented.

The existing 60 kilometre per hour zone will be reduced to 50, from Murray Street to Darling Street, and on Darling Street from Marius Street to Peel Street.

It follows a review which found nearly 50 crashes had occurred on these streets between July 2009 and June 2014, with 22 people injured.

Meanwhile at Dungowan, a 100 kilometre per hour area near Back Woolomin Road and Trough Gully Road will be reduced to 80.
