HUNTER WATER SEEKING APPROVAL FOR DESALINATION PLANT

Hunter Water is seeking planning approval for a temporary desalination plant at Belmont.
The organisation says the plant will act as an insurance policy in case of an unprecedented drought.
” this is something that would be constructed if we hit 35 percent capacity this is a level we haven’t been to in any kind of history and it’s really about if we run into the worst situation then we are ready”
The preliminary environmental assessment for the plant is on public exhibition.
