CHOIR RAISES RECORD FUNDS FOR TAREE WOMENS REFUGE

A choir from the University of the Third Age has sung its way to helping a Taree women’s refuge.
A series of concerts have been held to raise money for women and children fleeing domestic violence.
Today singers presented a $4,000 cheque to the Samaritans, breaking the choir’s fundraising record by a thousand dollars.
“We’ve got a room at the refuge that is going to be made with the funding for a child friendly area, which will be able to host groups out of, support groups for people fleeing domestic violence, for children who are escaping domestic violence,” said Susie Rowe.
The donation a timely one, ahead of White Ribbon Day this Saturday.
