LABOR SLAMS THE STATE GOVERNMENT’S PACKAGE TO FIGHT MICE

Labor has slammed the state government’s $50 million package to combat the mice plague, claiming farmers need more compensation.
Those applying for rebates on baits won’t receive funds until July.
While products purchased prior to May 13 won’t be eligible.
“Those farmers who have spent more than $150,000 on baits already, all lost crops in addition to that, or small businesses that have lost all of their stock- they will not get anything out of that package,” says shadow minister for primary industries, Jenny Aitchison.
The Agriculture Minister was contacted for comment.
