A 28-year-old woman and an eight-year-old boy have died after they were hit by a truck near Newcastle.

Emergency services were called to the M1 at Cameron Park around 5.30pm yesterday to reports of a serious crash.
The woman and the boy, who were pedestrians, were found dead at the scene.
Police said the two were not related but were known to each other.
It’s not yet clear if they were attempting to cross the road.
“The driver of the truck, a 57-year-old man, was treated for shock and was taken to John Hunter Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing,” police said in a statement.
Specialist officers are now investigating.
