CHARGES LAID OVER MID NORTH CARJACKING AND BREAK-IN

Police have charged a man on the mid north coast following an alleged carjacking and break-in.
Police say a 50-year-old man was sitting in a parked car on Short Street at Port Macquarie around 2pm yesterday, when he was approached by a man holding a pair of scissors.
The man allegedly entered the car and demanded to be driven to Lake Cathie, but the 50-year-old left and called police.
About 30 minutes later, the same man allegedly broke into a home on Talara Place at Lake Cathie, and assaulted and threatened a male resident with a knife.
A man in his 20s was later charged with several offences including two counts of assault, and aggravated break & enter.
