NEW SUN PROTECTION AT GUNNEDAH PLAYGROUNDS
Hot summers in the North West can deter many families from enjoying the region’s playgrounds, but Gunnedah Shire Council has taken steps to make them more appealing – new shade sails giving protection from the sun.
“They’re very high UV rating, they’re extra stitched for storm rating as well. They’re high enough so hopefully they won’t incur any vandalism and so forth and the kids won’t be inclined to climb them.”
Sails have been installed over several playgrounds, including Wolesley Park on Bloomfield Street – and there’s plans for more.
“Council’s allocated $30, 000- in the long term financial plan over the next four years to roll the shade sails out.”
