A 47-year-old man has been taken to John Hunter Hospital after being stabbed in the neck and arm in the Newcastle suburb of Bar Beach.
Police were called to a Light Street address around 8:30 on Monday night after reports a man had been stabbed.
He remains in a critical condition in hospital while police continue to investigate the circumstances.
