NEWCASTLE TRANSPORT RALLY: “NO CONFIDENCE IN CONSTANCE”
Newcastle transport workers have rallied today, calling on New South Wales Transport Minister Andrew Constance to step aside.
The group attached an oversized petition to the Wickham Interchange fence, accusing the Minister of attacking local jobs and transport services.
“We’ve now got buses being cancelled because they’re not making any money, we’ve now got school kids left behind, we’ve now got bus drivers not getting paid,” Alex Claasens from the NSW Rail, Tram and Bus Union says.
“He’s come out openly and said he doesn’t want to be in transport in the next 10 to 15 years, and he’s come out openly and said he wants driver-less buses, trains and trams,” Chris Preston from the NSW Rail, Tram and Bus Union adds.
The Minister’s office was contacted for comment.
