EVANS HEAD MAIN BEACH BATTERED BY GIANT SWELL

There wasn’t a lot of sunbathing going on at Main Beach in Evans Head today.
King tides and huge swells, which whipped up on the weekend, have washed away much of the town’s frontal dunes, causing serious erosion and leaving little room for beach activities.
While conditions are expected to ease over the next few days, regenerating the damaged coastline will take a lot longer.
“Sometimes it can take several years, it depends on what happens in the meantime, we’ve still got four months to go of this kind of weather.”
While the beaches were closed, the conditions didn’t deter everyone. [Notes:little kid and dad]
