Two people have made a lucky escape after a fire broke out in the garage of their Tamworth home.
Emergency services were called to The Peak in the Longyard Estate at around 1.30 this afternoon.
“The car’s petrol tank had ruptured and it’s spilt fuel all through the garage, which was ignited and that quickly spread to the upstairs of the building.”
Several fire crews worked to contain the fire… the blaze severely damaging the two-storey home.
The owners were taken to hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.
“The residents did evacuate the house due to working smoke alarms, which is a great example of just how effective a working smoke alarm is to save your life.”
