DRIVER DIES AFTER CAR COLLIDES WITH B-DOUBLE AT MACKSVILLE

A man has lost his life in an overnight accident on the Pacific Highway just north of Macksville.
Emergency crews were called to the Lumsden Lane intersection just after 4 o’clock this morning to find a northbound B-Double and a south-bound car had collided head-on.
The driver of the car died at the scene.
A safety barrier stopped the B-Double from careering into the Nambucca River
The driver of the B-Double was taken to hospital suffering shock and for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
The section of highway, which was closed until mid afternoon, is due to be bypassed before Christmas.
