New England youths are being praised for taking full advantage of government employment subsidies.
It comes as new data shows more than 10,000 Australians are no longer on welfare thanks to the Youth Jobs PaTH Program.
Of those, 171 New England residents have gained employment – the highest uptake in the country.
“One of our big expenses in our nation is social security and every person who gets a job means we are reducing the amount that we have to otherwise pay out in social security payments – otherwise known as the dole,” Deputy Prime Minister and Member for New England Barnaby Joyce said.
Businesses also benefit with a $10,00 subsidy, and ongoing financial support.
