COUPLE ESCAPE INJURY AFTER CAR CRASHES INTO BEDROOM

A Newcastle couple has had a terrifying wake up call, showered with debris when a car came ploughing into the side of their bedroom last night.
The Mitsubishi Lancer left the roadway, crashing through a fence, and into a unit on Harriet Street in Waratah just before 3am today.
The car stopped just short of hitting a bed where two occupants were sleeping.
The man and woman were uninjured but the unit sustained significant damage.
Police say the 20-year-old driver returned a positive roadside breath test, and he allegedly later returned a blood-alcohol reading of 0.180.
His licence was suspended and he was issued a court attendance notice for the mid-range PCA.
