People looking to cool off these school holidays are being urged to head to the Bar Beach to Merewether stretch this week, to avoid roadworks around Newcastle’s city centre.
The council is resurfacing several roads until Thursday.
Sections of Wharf Road and Watt Street were affected today.
Tomorrow, the intersection at Shortland Esplanade and Church Street will be closed, with traffic diverted down Newcomen Street.
