BEACHED WHALE BURIED AT NOBBY’S BEACH

A deceased whale that washed up on Nobby’s Beach in Port Macquarie has been buried.
Council was initially in charge of organising the removal and had plans to tow it back out to sea.
Difficult weather conditions however meant the 20 tonne animal was unable to be moved.
Instead it was buried in a deep hole on the beach.
The decision was made in consultation with ORCCA, and National Parks and Wildlife.
With high numbers of shark sightings, Port Macquarie beaches are still closed until further notice.
