DEAD WHALE WASHED ASHORE AT PORT MACQUARIE

A devastating ending for a humpback whale which was freed from fishing rope off Port Macquarie yesterday.
The 18-tonne mammal has since died, washing ashore at Nobbys Beach this morning.
Port Macquarie Council is now in the process of organising land based disposal of its carcass.
Meanwhile, all beaches from Town Beach to Lighthouse Beach were forced to close due to increased shark sightings.
