BUSHFIRE UPDATE: RICHMOND VALE AND TUNCURRY

RICHMOND VALE:

Conditions are easing at a bush fire burning in the area of Richmond Vale, between Pelaw Main and Mulbring.

Crews will today consolidate containment lines in an effort to fully contain the fire.

Fire activity significantly decreased overnight. Around 10mm of light rain fell over the fireground.

The fire has burnt more than 920 hectares of bushland in the area around Leggetts Drive.

Leggetts Drive has since reopened but the Sugarloaf Conservation Area remains closed.

TUNCURRY:

Firefighters are working to contain a bush fire burning east of Nabiac and north of Tuncurry.

The fire is currently burning in bushland between the Tuncurry golf course and the Tuncurry tip. The fire has now burnt more than 1800 hectares of bushland and scrub.

Firefighters are controlling the fire, but it is not yet contained. Crews will be working today to fully contain the fire.

The Lakes Way is open, however motorists are advised to take care as firefighters may be working from the road.

The fire has been burning for the past week and yesterday a spot fire threatened properties near Tuncurry during warm and windy conditions.

Overnight, conditions have eased and there is no immediate threat to properties.
