MAMMALS THRIVING IN BORDER RANGES

Park rangers say small mammals are thriving in the Border Ranges National Park, after a successful survey last week.
Rangers spent five days setting up more than 1200 traps to catalogue the creatures in the area.
They found nine different species including two of the endangered Hastings River Mouse.
“last year we found five of the hastings river mouse which was particularly great but we were just pleased to see them this year but we did find nine different species so theres definitely diversity out there”
The annual survey helps rangers tailor fire and weed control management to help support threatened species.
