NORTHS NO MATCH FOR GOSFORD IN HCPL HOCKEY

In the final round of Hunter Coast Premier Hockey, Uni edged out Wests, Maitland belted The Entrance and minor premiers Gosford beat Norths.
There was plenty of intensity early, with Norths keeper Shaun O’Brien taking no prisoners.
The visitors opened the scoring through Rory Walker.
Gosford tied things up thanks to Jake Wigham, but then things got ugly, as O’Brien and Riley Carr engaged in some push and shove.
Both players were eventually shown yellow cards.
The home side responded to the setback, with Wigham making it 2-1.
Lain Carr then teed up Geoff McGuire for Gosford’s third, before Craig Campbell made it 4-1.
The two sides will now meet again next weekend in the major semi.
