Police are investigating a serious road accident in the Newcastle suburb of New Lambton.
A woman had to be cut from the wreckage of her car, after it collided with a four-wheel-drive on the intesection of Lambton and Alma roads late this afternoon.
She was taken by ambulance to nearby John Hunter Hospital.
Traffic was backed up around the busy intersection, with one lane closed while crash investigators inspected the scene.
