MEREWETHER TAKE THE HONOURS IN FIRST LEG OF WPL FINALS

In the Womens Premier League, minor premiers Warners Bay scored an impressive win over Mid North Coast in the first leg of the semi finals.

Meanwhile, Merewether beat Adamstown in a match delayed when the Buds’ keeper suffered concussion.

It was a fiery local derby at Adamstown Oval.

The Rosebud had the best early chances. Grace McIntyre almost put one past Olivia Sneddon, but was denied.

Sneddon then managed to deflect a Nicki Jones corner, but Tayla Braithwaite got hold of it to open the scoring for the visitors.

Isabel Cootes chipped one in for Adamstown just before the break.

But it wasn’t enough to win the first leg.
