SECOND NORTH COAST HENDRA CASE CONFIRMED

A property near Murwillumbah has been put into quarantine following the region’s second confirmed case of Hendra virus this year.
Samples of a 14-year-old gelding were sent for laboratory testing, with the results today confirming the deadly virus.
The outbreak on the unvaccinated horse has prompted a warning from authorities, for owners to vaccinate their horses.
Last month, a horse was euthanased, after it contracted the bat-borne virus on a property near Lismore.
