KRIS LEES LOOKING TO STAKE A CLAIM FOR THE EVEREST
Newcastle trainer Kris Lees will push his claim for a start in Australia’s most lucrative race – The Everest – this weekend, with Le Romain the favourite for the Group Two Missile Stakes at Randwick.
“He’s prepared well, he’ll certainly improve off the run on Saturday. But it looks a nice option for him to resume in and I think he’s in for a good preparation.”
Lees also has Clearly Innocent vying for a spot in the $10-million Everest, to be run on October 14.
He’s relying on the owners of one of the 12 slots in the race to see his runners’ potential.
“I wouldn’t be making a decision yet, I’d be looking at what horses are in form. I think there’s about 6 horses locked in and I think our two horses are a chance of making the field.”
